Safety-critical embedded systems place specific demands on the architecture!
In addition to the normative requirements in the area of functional safety, embedded systems must usually meet real-time requirements. Other typical topics include variant diversity and communication via special bus systems. The focus of this seminar is on concrete methods and solution patterns for these requirements. In addition, the seminar provides an overview of system and software development processes for embedded systems and the role that software architecture plays in these processes.
In the “EMBEDDED – Dependable Embedded Systems” module, you can expect practical training on architecture design, safety and real-time requirements for embedded systems. You will learn how to develop reliable and flexible solutions and integrate complex hardware and software architectures. The aim is to design robust systems for demanding applications.
Requirements of the participants
➤ You should be familiar with the basics of software architecture as taught in the CPSA-F.
➤ Practical experience in the development and design of embedded systems is required.
➤ Knowledge of the typical challenges in the development of embedded systems, such as real-time and safety requirements, is helpful.
➤ Experience with safety-critical systems or real-time systems can make it easier to get started, but is not essential.
➤ A basic understanding of modeling techniques and hardware-software integration is an advantage.
Technical requirements
There are no special requirements for the training environment, as the exercises are carried out using cloud and web-based tools such as Miro, Draw.io and platforms such as Jupyter or HuggingFace; all that is needed is a stable and sufficiently fast internet connection.
